Temporary classrooms in the area of Venice's former cold stores

This project, developed by Sinergo from an architectural outline created by Barman Architects, entailed the construction of a temporary building for the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. The project focused on the area of Venice’s former cold stores, known as the location where the new IUAV headquarters, planned by Enric Miralles e Benedetta Tagliabue, was supposed to be built at the start of the new millennium. This is separated from the Giudecca canal by the road system owned by the Port Authority, and is within the vicinity of various buildings owned by the IUAV university and Ca’ Foscari. The new building features 6 classrooms on one floor, designed to address a temporary shortage of teaching spaces at Ca’ Foscari. For this structure, which can host approximately 550 students, the systems plan prioritised the integration of technological components, the reliability and maintainability of the various elements, the use of IT systems for regulation, control and management, as well as the optimisation of energy efficiency.
